Board of Trustees

Ustaine Talley, President

Ustaine

As a member of the Board of Trustees, I’m committed to seeing that our Spiritual Center provides the best possible opportunities for people to be involved in meaningful activities that make them grow in the direction of their dreams.  Whether that is a dynamic lesson, a thoughtful and engaging class, a volunteer project, an uplifting musical selection or stirring meditation, my hope is that each one finds that which enriches them at Unity on the Avenue.

Ellen Yu, Secretary

Ellen joined UOTA two years ago, and serves on the Welcome Team, the Outreach Team and the Green Team. When there was a call to serve on the Board to complete the term of a member needing to retire, Ellen stepped into that role.
After retiring from a 27-year career developing sales software for ING Financial Services, Ellen continues to serve by volunteering with AARP to prepare income tax returns and helping seniors with money management through the Senior Resource Center. She has served on the board of tennis organizations and continues to manage and play in tennis leagues. She enjoys reading history, cozy British mysteries, and maintains lifelong learning through OLLI courses. Ellen has two grown children, a granddaughter, and a little rescued dog named Rafa.

I am a native of Colorado. I remember the sugar beet fields out by Brighton and the wide open prairies just past Peoria.
I was raised in the Lutheran church but my Church was out in nature. From City Park to Estes Park and all along the front range, I found connection and beauty in Spirit.
I am a retired Licensed Practical Nurse and did mostly private duty through out my career.
My clients were the ones dependent on machines and thier caregiver. My work was also my church. I sang, and made them laugh while I took good care of thiers bodies so thier soul could take care of itself in faith and trust.

When I found Unity on the Avenue 5 years ago, it was the chaplins that drew me in. I knew I had found a safe place to be healed, grow, and connect more completely with Divine Spirit and Beloved community. I feel being on the board for Unity on the Avenue is the right place for me to give, help grow and inspire our congregation to our next highest good.
I am full of gratitude for this opportunity to serve.
Blessings
And Thank you

Functional Medicine physician and ordained Unity minister, I have served 2 Unity ministries and offered my services to area Unity churches.  My first encounter with Unity on the Avenue was in 1992 when I came to Denver to start a new Unity church, Lakewood Unity, A Center for Creative Spirituality.  I have been a part of this church for the last 10 plus years.

Unity on the Avenue has a rich history and now a wonderful opportunity to serve a much wider community.  I am honored to be part of this loving community as a member of the board of trustees.  I deeply believe that a church can be a spiritual marketplace.  This is one of the reasons I am doing the monthly Designs for Health Living classes.  It takes time, commitment and audacious courage to step outside of some “human made” box and allow God to lead the way.  We have to be willing to dream with God. This is who I am.  I have worked for decades to become a better human being and grow in spiritual wisdom and maturity. I am certainly not “done” yet.  I want to give all I have learned to my world. I pray that can be the vision for this precious spiritual community.
